UN Proposal Project

Over the past semester we have studied a number of topics that spanned the globe.  Starting with the issues of China's environment, moving south to the indigenous people of Australia and finally to the economic troubles of Sub-Saharan Africa.  Throughout the investigation of these people and places, we discussed the layers of issues that define the places and issues that will frame their futures.  Follow the steps below to complete the final project of the semester.

 

You are a United States delgate to the United Nations.  You must make a proposal regarding one of the issues analyzed as a part of the first semester of Social Studies class. 

1. What? 

Decide which issue about which you will make a proposal.Choose from a topic we have studied throughout the past 20 weeks of school.

2. Who Cares? 

Define

the main ideas/concepts related to that issue. 
3. How? 

 

Describe Outline the main strategies for addressing the issue that you have chosen.  Be specific and concise. the concrete/specific steps the UN will take to affect change with regard to this issue.
4. Type of Presentation:  Choose a manner of presenting your proposal.  You are required to have more than just a written proposal.  Cartoon strip, moviemaker, poster, illustration, powerpoint, play, podcast, etc.

Uses other people's ideas (giving them credit), but there is little evidence of original thinking. Uses other people's ideas, but does not give them credit.
Presentation Well-rehearsed with smooth delivery that holds audience attention. Rehearsed with fairly smooth delivery that holds audience attention most of the time. Delivery not smooth, but able to maintain interest of the audience most of the time. Delivery not smooth and audience attention often lost.
